Chefs Matt Dempsey (Gladioli) and Graham Jefferies (ex Baveras) worked together at Pettavel winery in 2007 and have been friends ever sinceMatt opened the award winning Gladioli in Inverleigh in 2011 while Graham moved to Melbourne to take the helm at Wildflower restaurant in Canterbury. After Graham left Wildflower and was looking to move back to the Geelong region, they started talking about opening a restaurant together.
They wanted a restaurant that broke the traditional mould and allowed the diner more flexibility. They soon found their perfect site at 111 Pakington Street, Geelong West and Tulip started coming to life. Architect Adam Kane designed the dining room which is minimal and modern with a relaxed feel.
Tulip offers shared dining with ingredient driven dishes created using modern cooking techniques.
